COMMENT: Beach House -ANCHORED – Castara Bay, Tobago South Shore

Despite our having permission and a permit to anchor in Englishman\’s Bay, a local fishing guy came by and wanted us out so he could net the entire bay.
I doubt his nets were that big, but we were not going to argue and moved 2 miles to this bay, Castara where there are two other cruising boats.
It\’s just as pretty or more so and it\’s calmer!

I\’ll blog later this afternoon to catch up…
    Cheers,
    Scott and Wind-lass Nik

No internet here! We\’re the only boat, pretty nice, idyllic setting. We were here in the rent a car the other day.
May go ashore to the restaurant later. We plan on going to either Castara Bay or Buccoo Bay tomorrow before heading off to Trinidad on Thursday.

I\’ll remove lots of you from the position report once we are at the dock in Chaguaramas, Trinidad. Let me know if you want to stay on?

    Scott and Nikki

COMMENT: Beach House -ANCHORED- Man of War Bay, Charlottesvlle, Tobago

We anchored at 6:15 am local time, we\’re now -4 on GMT. 25 or so cruising boats here, a nice little anchorage but
deeper than I\’ve been used to since leaving the Pacific.

The Atlantic has been crossed! 6050 miles since we left Cape Town….

    KIT,
Sleeping now, check in and update the blog later today…

COMMENT: Beach House -EN ROUTE- Guyana to Tobago, Expect A.M. Arrival…..

Updating the position report ahead of schedule. 82 miles to go to the East end of Tobago, now abeam \”Boca de La Serpte\” (The Serpents Mouth). This is the passage between
Venezuela and Trinidad. The North passage is called \”The Dragon\’s Mouth\”… Sounds very Pirates of the Caribbean.

We had a mini boo boo today. The spinnaker tack blew out, no worries, got it all down quickly. We\’ve the full main and genneker up doing 8.5-10 knots for the last 10 hours; we\’re flying in really smooth seas on a beam reach. I\’ll update the position as we make the turn and then when we are anchored.

    Scott and off watch Nik

COMMENT: Beach House -EN ROUTE- Guyana to Tobago

We had to motor till mid night and since then, we\’ve had WIND from just forward of the starboard beam. We\’ve been making 6-8 knots with a single reef and staysail.
At this speed, we should be in Tobago by tomorrow around noon. Blog updatd!

We upped anchor and went against the tide to get here, so it took an extra hour.
One other boat here (British Flag) and we\’ll go ashore into what looks like an okay little town.
I\’ll update the blog after our visit later this afternoon.

We are now officially \”Somewhere up the Crazy River\”….:-)

COMMENT: Beach House -ANCHORED- Essequiebo River, Guyana – It\’s a Jungle Cruise!

We decided that since this was our last opportunity in South America for a stop over, we\’d make it a real adventure and go
up the Essequiebo River to Bartica. We\’re half way now and will go the rest tomorrow morning (21 miles). It\’s supposed to be
