COMMENT: Beach House – En Route – Isla Providencia, Columbia

We had our first sail of the season today which lasted about 8 hours and are just entering the large shallow bank off the NE corner of Honduras which extends down to Nicaragua.
It\’s a bit intimidating to see \”shallow water\” on the depth sounder in the middle of the pitch black night.
As the charts are good, we\’ll be at our first waypoint, Cayo Vivarillos just after first light. If all is well, we\’ll
proceed for another 30 hours or so to Isla Providencia. The trip has been good so far and hopefully we\’ll be completely around
Punta Gracias Adios (Thank God Point) by late tomorrow afternoon.
    Motoring at Midnight…

    Scott and Nikki

  • POSITION REPORT – Beach House – Guanaja Island, Bay of Islands, Honduras

COMMENT: Beach House – Beach House – ANCHORED – Gunaja Island, Honduras – Bay of Islands

The weather window is a bit interesting. If we\’d continued on, we would have been motoring into light to moderate NEasterlies.
By waiting here, we should have a good Westerly push as the Arctic Cold Front arrives. This should get us most of the way to the
Vivirilos Cays. If we get there fast, we may move on, if not, we\’ll anchor in this very remote area 50 miles or so off the Nicaraguan Coast.

Some chores to do before we\’re off, a good nights sleep and on we go!
    KIT,
Scott and Nikki – Guanaja Island, Bay of Islands, Honduras.

COMMENT: Beach House – En Route – Isla Providencia, Columbia

Dear Group! (The Island of Utila in site to our south)
First, we had electronics issues and had to return to RAM Marina on the 1st. We left RAM after getting
it fixed at 10:30 a.m., did the 4 hour motor to Livingston down the Rio Dulce and then checked out.
We departed Livingston over the river bank (which gets down to 4 feet deep!) and we were off. The weather
seemed favorable, but we had a lousy first night doing the \”Utila Bounce\” as it\’s known around here.

Things have settled and we have a very complex weather window. We have about 5-8 hours to make a final decision, but
I suspect we\’ll press on to get around Punta Gracias Adios (more on that later).
Isla Providencia is actually owned by Columbia, but about 300 miles NORTH of mainland Columbia. Once there and settled,
a few days to the San Blas Islands of Panama should be an easier trip.
As this one is going, we\’d be to Providencia on the 5th or 6th.

I can\’t miss the opportunity to note that today would have been Cindy\’s 56th birthday and yesterday, my Mom\’s 79th…
The Universe proceeds, with or without us.
    Hugs to you all.
Nikki has been tough, it\’s been an uncomfortable first night.
    Scott with now sleeping Nikk

very \”local\” fireworks. We\’ll be here till at least the 2nd. Weather is starting to look favorable
to move East, but may be wet and squally in a front.

COMMENT: Beach House – DOCKED – Puerto Morelos, Mexico

We did a day trip by car to Chichin Izta (Mayan ruins) and a bit of exploring around Cancun
and Isla Mujeres. We\’ve now moved 35 miles south to Puerto Morelos and will do a day trip to the Mayan ruins
at Tulum (costal) and Coba (inland) tomorrow.

I\’ll try to get the first \”TITSNBN\” (Cuba) blog out today or tomorrow.

COMMENT: Beach House – ANCHORED – Inner Lagoon-Isla Mujeres, Mexico
The Yucatan Channel can be a bit notorious and we got a bit of it last night.
We were bucking a 3.5 knot current for 35 miles. This slowed us down to 3.5-4knots with
the WSW wind. We got quite a lightning show last night, all well off our stern over Cuba.
We arrived at 4:15 a.m., but stayed offshore till daylight as the Cancun backdrop has more lights than
    a Christmas Tree.

Resting up, then checking in. We\’ll be here for several days. We hear they have internet so we will be blogging away.

COMMENT: Beach House – DOCKED – Old Bahama Bay Marina, West End Grand Bahama

It was a long day. 72 miles from Ft. Lauderdale to the West End here at Grand Bahama.
We made the 7:30 a.m. bridge opening and passed a record 8 cruise ships in Port Everglades.
We got to sail for an hour and overall the conditions were nice. A few bugs, but we\’ll get them worked out.

We are using a new satellite email system this season called Iridium GO.
Winlink may not take our position reporting as I cannot do it through their system via Iridium GO. We will still show up on YOTREPS and ShipTrak however.

This is the SAME GROUP of interested parties I put on the position report emails in the past. IF YOU DO NOT WANT TO BE ON THE DIRECT LIST.
Just let us know and I\’ll delete you. Please do not think we will be offended. We want what YOU want….:-)

Feel free to drop a note. PLEASE USE OUR REGULAR EMAILS.
Nikki\’s gmails will forward to the boat. For me use WDB5638 \”at\” sailmail.com. My beachhouse51 \”at\” gmail.com will forward to the boat as well!
    KIT,
Scott and Nikki (en route Hope Town in Grand Abaco (a couple of days away). Tomorrow we hope to make Sale Cay.

COMMENT: Beach House – DOCKED – New River City Marina – Ft. Lauderdale, Florida – USA

We had lightening and thunder for the last two hours – a classic South Florida Thunderstorm. We saw 3.9 knots of current as a maximum in the Gulf Stream running south to north.
Once we entered Port Everglades, we came north up the Intercostal Waterway (ICW) to the New River and have docked at the public marina on the very narrow, \”New River\” in downtown Ft. Lauderdale. We called customs and will go to immigration tomorrow. All is well, we\’ll be here till at least Tuesday then move marinas (we hope).
It\’s nice here –  two bridges en route opened for us – 17th Street and 3rd Avenue.
